Returning on Saturday, 8th March, we will be hosting our annual Pancake Day at St. Oswald’s Church! There will be great activities for the whole family and, of course, brilliantly freshly made pancakes!
Come on down to the church between 11-2pm for a great afternoon. Donations to church funds are welcome! Can’t wait to see you there!
To ensure the ongoing security of our lovely church building (and to comply with our insurance!), we are going to be changing our locks. If you have any set of church keys, please return them to either of our wardens as soon as possible. Thank you!
The moment you have all been waiting for has finally arrived! We are very excited to let you know that we have restarted our Home Groups and the inaugural meeting will take place on Monday, 13 February. Feel free to check out our Home Group page for further details!
Please either speak with Rev. Joe if you’d like to attend, or alternatively you can Contact Us for more information. All are welcome and we would love to have you attend!
We have relaunched our Sunday Morning Crèche for little ones! Every Sunday during the morning service, when our older kids head upstairs for Kids Zone, parents and their 0-3 aged children are welcome to join us in our crèche room at the front of church.
We are looking for two more volunteers to welcome little ones and their grown-ups to be willing to chat and be present while the service goes on in the sanctuary. But don’t worry about missing out — the room is wired with speakers so all inside can hear what’s happening.
Please speak with Megan if you’re able to lend a hand — she’d love to speak with you further.
We’re thrilled to announce that our toddler group, Little Caterpillars, will be starting on 9 February 2023!
It runs every Thursday morning from 9-11 during term times in the church during term time. This group is suitable for children 0-3 (and their grown-ups!) and we will have lots of fun singing songs and nursery rhymes, telling stories, and encouraging free play with our little ones.
We have teas, coffees, toast, and fruit available during our play time for any rumbly tummies. Come and join the fun!
We are 90% complete our kitchen refurbishment! The floors have been laid, the wall cladding is up, new surfaces and shelving units have been installed, and the sinks have been tapped in! We welcome our community to use the space for teas and coffees at the end of our services — come and see our brand new kitchen!
We are awaiting the last few details, but unfortunately, due to some unexpected costs along the way, we’ve hit the ceiling of our Church budget. We’ve been incredibly blessed to receive all of our funding from grants and very generous donations thus far, and we’re so close to being able to complete this renovation. Quite frankly, we’re still in need of £1,000 to complete this job and are hoping our Church family, community, and friends can help to push us over the finish line.
St. Oswald’s has historically been such an important part of the community — from various groups, meetings, services, and events that have taken part over the years, and our Church kitchen has played a valuable role in this. Our intent is to future-proof this space so we can continue to be available and open for years and years to come.
So can you help us? If you are in a place where you can give, we thank you over and over again. We recognise that times are tough at the moment but are so grateful for the incredible generosity we’ve experienced so far.
If you are able to help in any way at all, you can do so by clicking the Donate button, and if you do, please then Contact Us to let us know. This way we can thank you personally: because we appreciate every person who continues to help us to grow! By also letting us know, your message will help us to ensure that whatever you give goes directly to our kitchen and isn’t allocated to other church finances.
Thank you so very much for keeping us in your prayers, for your generosity, and you support as we continue to finish up these last few details. Please keep an eye out on our News page for more exciting kitchen updates!
The next PCC meeting will take place on Wednesday, 25 February, 2026 at 7:30pm at St. Oswald’s Church. These meetings are closed, however if you would like to attend as an observer, you must be in touch with one of our church wardens prior to coming. Thank you for your continued prayers for our leadership team.
January is such a difficult month, isn’t it? The joy and celebration of Christmas is over, the New Years celebrations have come and gone, and now we find ourselves in the midst of the winter darkness (and snow!).
But we want to have a little something on the calendar to look forward to! On Sunday, 29 January at 4pm, we are hosting a January Blues Quiz Night. Come and join us for a good ole pub-style quiz and some light savoury refreshments.
Come and join us for some light-hearted fun, some great St. Oswald’s treats, and a good laugh! Sign up sheet is available at the back of church or let Rev. Joe know that you’re planning to attend. May the best team win!
This coming Sunday, 15 January marks the second Sunday of Epiphany and we will be celebrating alongside Chester Diocese’s Bishop Julie who will be presiding and preaching for us.
Traditionally in the Church, Epiphany marks the celebration of God, who became man, in Christ. Further, in the Western Church, we celebrate the arrival of the Magi to visit Jesus after his birth. Join us as we welcome Bishop Julie, learn from her, and sing about the Kings who came to visit our God!
Our next Men’s Group social is just around the corner! We will be meeting at St. Oswald’s on Wednesday, 19 March at 7:00pm to play darts, build community, and have a laugh.
