Every Sunday morning, we gather for our main worship service at 10.30am. Typically, we celebrate Holy Communion together, but we also try to maintain a balance of both traditional and modern aspects of Christian worship. You may find that some hymns are sung along to the organ, whilst others are led by the keyboard and guitar; this can be anything from William Williams to Matt Redman.

We also try to maintain familiar liturgies which have carried congregations for generations, and also introduce more informal and creative prayers for new generations. We strongly believe that church should be for everyone and we should therefore make room (and celebrate) the wonderful mixture of ‘difference’. The body of Christ is wonderfully diverse after all, and it makes us stronger!

During our 10:30am services, we also run activities and sessions for young people and infants. Kids Zone is for primary – secondary school age children, and takes in our youth room upstairs. Next door to our main worship space, is our purpose built creche for babies and toddlers. In here you will find soft play items and games, whilst also being able to listen to the service via our speaker system. Please don’t ever worry about having children and young people in church! We love God’s little ones and we fully celebrate all of their noise and wonder.

After the service, please do stick around for a cuppa and a biscuit. You will be greeted with a very warm welcome and we would love to get to know you!

Our 6pm evening services are usually a bit quieter and more contemplative than our morning service. The pattern of services tend to change each week — this can be anything from Evening Prayer, Compline, The Examen, and Guided Meditations. Again, you will be made most welcome and will be fully included into the life of the St Oswald’s family.

Are you an early bird? Why not join us in the church for Morning Prayer during the week! It’s a great way to start the day and it helps us stay connected for the needs of the church and the church family. Sometimes, you even get a cuppa right afterwards! Let us be encouraged that God really does want to hear our prayers, and our prayers will make such a wonderful difference to the Kingdom of God at Bidston.

Following on from our Ladies Fellowship group, everyone is invited to a short service of Holy Communion or weekly prayers. Services follow a said pattern from Common Worship and also offer collective prayer for anyone who may wish to bring anything before God. It’s a great pick-me-up for the middle of the week!

“Come to me all you who are weary and heavily burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble, and you will find rest for your soul. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30
