Advent Course!

We know it’s only the beginning of November, but before we know it, Christmas will be around the corner. It has been another crazy year; so much has happened both globally, within the UK, and even in our own parish and in order to slow down to reflect on the brilliance of the Christmas season, we will be taking part in an Advent course to help prepare ourselves for the most wonderful time of the year.

This course will be four weeks, matching with the Advent season, and will lead towards Christmas. This year we will be looking at the BBC’s drama on The Nativity and discussions will be focused upon this.

At this time we have two available Advent Course options: the first is every Monday evening at St. Oswald’s, starting at 7pm; the second is every Tuesday evening on Zoom, starting at 7pm.

This course will be running until the 21 December; please come along to either course — we’d love to see you there!

Sunday Evening Prayer

Sunday evenings offer a different pace to Sunday morning worship. Come along to a slightly more informal gathering where we will be exploring a number of different methods of worship. We hope to journey in everything from a basic Evening Prayer format to Compline, Taizé-style meetings to contemporary worship.

Each week we will be meeting at 6:00pm on Sundays for reflection, worship, and spending time in God’s presence. Look forward to seeing you there!

Sunday School Volunteers Wanted

How exciting is it to have children be a part of our church? We love welcoming all ages, and stages to St. Oswald’s and hope to provide something for everyone. We do need more volunteers for our Sunday morning Kids Zone and Crèche activities, however!

If you are interested in giving a hand to get this back up and running, please either speak with Rev. Joe or Christine & Arthur; they’ll be in touch and chat next steps with you!

Thank you in advance.

Cleaning Team Help Wanted

Calling all volunteers!

We are hoping to establish a regular cleaning rota in our beautiful church and are looking for some extra people to lend a hand to keep our beautiful building… well beautiful! We hope to establish (ideally!) two different cleaning teams to give the church a fortnightly tidy — the more people able to give a hand, the merrier!

If you would be willing to help support us with this, please either get in contact with Rev. Joe or see Val after our next morning service.

Thank you every one!

Harvest Festival Sunday

On Sunday, 5 October, come and join us as we celebrate the Harvest Festival at St. Oswald’s. We would love for our church congregation to join with this beautiful event as we celebrate the bounty and generosity of God!

We encourage those who are attending to bring along some non-perishable food donations and all of these gifts will be sent to the Charles Thompson Mission in Birkenhead; they will be picked up the following week from the church so even if you’re unable to make the service, you’ve got a couple extra days to get a donation together.

The service is at the same time as every week — 10:30am — and this year we will be welcoming Bishop Sam of Stockport who will join the service with us. We will most certainly be singing about plowing the fields! Really look forward to seeing you there.
